PSU Breast Cancer Candlelight Vigil

PITTSBURG, KS.--- The Southeast Kansas regional office held a candlelight vigil tonight at Pittsburg State University. The goal was to honor those who've passed away from breast cancer, while supporting those dealing with the disease. Organizers and speakers also wanted to stress to every woman early detection is key.
"It could happen to anybody. I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed and I had no family history, so I'm here tonight to share my story along with my kids their going to speak as well we want people to be aware that it can happen," states Jodie Adams, Breast Cancer Survivor, Guest Speaker.
"The many events that we have women still need to get screened so this is just to remind ladies that there is no finacial reason in the state of kansas why she can not be screened," states Stephanie Thompson, RN Early Detection Works.
Organizations like Early Detection Works have programs to help women get screened for breast cancer if they can't afford it.
