Joplin Co. Death Investigation

Joplin Police are investigating the death of a local man. After 11:30 this morning, Joplin Police were called to 521 North Joplin Street after the body of a 62-year-old man was discovered in the home. Lt. Delmar Hasse says the department is not calling this death suspicious, nor are they investigating it as a homicide yet. However, the scene was immediately taped off as a crime scene. This is the same apartment house where two people were murdered in December of 1999, but Lt. Hasse says that had nothing to do with the department`s speedy response. Lt. Hasse says once an exact cause of death is determined. Investigators will then know which avenues to explore.
