LAWRENCE COUNTY, MO.--- The Lawrence County Sheriff says Richard Armstrong Junior, 50, of Neosho was the flight instructor accompanying Deryl Edwards Junior, 41, of Joplin. The men were in a Cessna 310 twin engine plane when they left the Monett Municipal Airport Sunday evening. They went down just before 6 p.m.,3 miles North of I44 on Highway F. Family members tell us the one of the plane's engines had just been replaced. They say the plane was leaking either fuel or oil and the men were trying to make an emergency landing. A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA is expected in about 4 days.
Robert Armstrong's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 10 a.m. The service will be held at Neosho Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Clark Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements for Edwards are pending.
