JOPLIN, MO.--- Allen and Alicia Brown helped with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in Nausau County, a beach side area in New York. They're part of the Missouri Task Force 1 Search and Rescue Team and were deployed to the disaster area October 29th. The duo walked from house to house making sure survivors were doing well. They went to a total of 4,200 homes. The Browns were able to evacuate 5 people out of a house with a deadly level of carbon monoxide.
"I just felt proud to be part of an organization that does this. This is not what we train all the time to do but all the members of our team are flexible enough and willing to help," states Allen Brown.
The Browns spent a total of 7 days in the hurricane ravaged area.
