JOPLIN, MO.--- The Salvation Army of Joplin held the annual Tree of Lights kick off event this evening. No yule tide celebration is complete without hot chocolate, a horse and carriage rides, and an early visit from Santa himself. Salvation Army officials hope the kick off brings awareness to the importance of their 'Red Kettle' campaign.
"So with all the change, and all the money that we gain into it, we can provide Christmas presents, food, and shelter for those that are in need," states James Curry, Joplin Salvation Army.
Families can see the Christmas tree in the UMB parking lot located at 4th Street and Range Line.
