BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.--- The Cherokee County Democratic party voted Melanie Bingham in to office after the county's attorney, John Bullard, resigned to work as Cherryvales' City Manager. According to state statute, the office holder's party can replace them with someone from the same political agenda. Bingham is expected to be sworn in within the next couple of weeks. County officials are waiting for Kansas Governor, Sam Brownback to sign off on her appointment. She will be in office until January 7th when County Attorney Elect, Nathan Coleman is sworn in.
