JOPLIN, MO.--- Phoenix Fired Art hosted an 'Empty Bowls' fundraiser in Joplin tonight. For a $15 donation people were given a handmade ceramic bowl filled with soup from local restaurants. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Crosslines, the Salvation Army, and Watered Gardens Food Pantries. Organizers say it's important to help others during the holidays.

"We scheduled this for the week before thanksgiving un purpose so that people getting ready to feast with their families would remember the hungry in their community as well," states Heather Grills, Owner, Phoenix Fired Art.

Volunteers say more than 300 people attended this evening, organizers hope to make it an annual event.
