Updated: January 7, 2009
America`s mother road is being honored once again. Another Route 66 marker is now on display in Joplin. The city`s second Route 66 commemorative marker was unveiled this week in Schifferdecker Park. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the historic route. When it opened in 1926, the road connected Chicago with Los Angeles. Part of the old road can still be seen in parts of Joplin as it ran through the Four State area. The other commemorative marker is located on the grounds of the Joplin Public Library.
