Baxter Springs Middle School Building Plans

BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.---- Thanks to a school bond, the Baxter Springs School District will soon be breaking ground on a new middle school facility near the high school. Earlier this week, administrators met with 2 companies wanting to turn the old building into affordable housing for seniors. District officials day this would help keep the historic building a strong part of the community.

"It's not just brick and morter. It's what that brick and morter represents to the community. Hundreds of people were educated in that building, it holds a lot of memories," states Dennis Burke, Baxter Springs Superintendent.

The school board will open up a bidding process next week, and hope to have a plan for the building soon. They'll break ground on the new middle school in January.
