BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.--- Wayne Metcalf was named the 2012 Baxter Springs Hometown Hero today at a banquet in his honor. Metcalf has served as the scorekeeper for USD 508 for 56 years, along with spending more than 30 years as President of Baxter Springs Little League. He says he has no plans of quitting his jobs any time soon.

"Not until my health leaves me or they run me off. I enjoy it. I love basketball and I love baseball, and just finished my 57th year of helping run the chains in football," states Wayne Metcalf, Baxter Springs Hometown Hero.

School administrators presented Metcalf with a new scorer's table to help him kickoff his 57th year with the basketball team.
