JOPLIN, MO-- Joplin's latest tax numbers reverse a trend of dropping revenue. The city got $122,000 dollars more in general sales tax revenue alone than in November last year. It's an increase of 15%. That follows four months in a row of declining numbers. City workers say they had expected the decrease and aren't sure about the cause of the change.

City of Joplin Finance Director Leslie Jones said, "We anticipated it would start coming back down. We believe that's what it did the last 3 or 4 months of 2012. This one month is kind of a surprise and we'll just have to wait and see if it's a timing issue.

The City of Joplin finished fiscal year 2012 last month with a 4.7% increase on the year.
