WEBB CITY, MO.--- For the Johnson family, picking out and cutting down their own Christmas tree is an important family tradition.
"The one around the area that we went to closed in 2006, so that's about the same time we decided to do it because we looked around and we knew that there wasn't any place to go get a Christmas tree," states Jennafer Johnson, Co Owner.
7 years after they planted the first seedling and 3,000 trees later, they have their very own Christmas tree farm and are they're hoping to make it easier for local families to start traditions of their own.
"We just can't wait to introduce our Christmas tree farm to people in the area and allow people to come out and do an experience and a tradition that they can do from year to year in the holiday season," states Jennafer.
Bridgestone Christmas Tree Farm has everything from Pine trees to Fir trees, each at different heights and varying shades of green.
"The main type of tree we have here is a Scotch Pine, it's probably the most popular in Southwest Missouri, in this part of the country," states Andy Johnson, Bridgestone Farm Co Owner.
As they prepare for tomorrows big grand opening, the owners want to remind people of a few ways to keep their tree at it's best.
"We always recommend, even if you cut it down that same day, when you get it home, you are going to want to cut another inch off of the trunk of it and when you put it in your stand you are going to want to immediately add water to that and keep an eye on that, those things will drink a gallon to two gallons of water a day," states Andy.
The Christmas tree farm also has a small store, hay rides, and place where kids can write letters to Santa. Bridgestone Farms is located one mile North of the Joplin Regional Airport near the Route 43 Roundabout. They will be open tomorrow from 10 to 5 p.m.
