County Official Switches Affiliation

A Four State county official switches party affiliation. Newton County Auditor Rebecca Tipton announced this week she is switching to the republican party. Tipton was appointed to the position by Missouri democratic governor Roger Wilson last year. In making her decision, Tipton says she feels the local democratic leadership has fallen out of touch with the people of Newton County. Tipton lost her bid year in the race for Newton County commissioner. She had been appointed by the late Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan to fill the term of a commissioner who resigned from office in 1999.
