JOPLIN, MO.--- In a breakdown of 2012 Joplin sales tax revenue, construction is one of the top increases. It's up 35% for fiscal year 2012 versus last year. Workers point out that comes on top of the increases seen in 2011 as the city started to recover from the May 22nd tornado, a trend that they predict will continue.

"They are working very steadily and I expect that to continue for the next 3 to 5 years," states Crystal Harrington, Home Builders Association of Southwest Missouri.

Other increases include entertainment, mall stores, restaurants. Convenience stores saw the biggest increase with a 62% jump. Those logging drops include discount, furniture, and grocery stores.
