JOPLIN, MO.--- The Tax Increment Financing Board, or 'TIF', voted to approve the plan to set up the new district at a Joplin City Council meeting tonight. The TIF will include the tornado affected areas and parts of Main street in downtown Joplin. Tax revenues from within the district will be used to fund new development projects. Board members say they believe they came up with a solution to satisfy the tax payers within the district.
"At the end here, we were able to make an informed vote and a vote that all of the taxing entities, as well as the commissioners could feel good about," states Doug Doll, TIF Commission Chairman.
Joplin City Council members will vote to approve the district during a special council meeting on Friday, December 28th.
