MIAMI, OK.--- The trial for Skye Reece is in underway in Miami. Reece was dating the child's father and was caring for him at the time of the toddlers death. The doctor who testified is an expert on child abuse and neglect injuries.

Lanceton Hollenbeck, 17 months old, was flown by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa on February 11th. The next day, doctors requested the help from pediatric Doctor Michael Baxter, who testified today.

He told the jury Lanceton had severe head injuries. Doctor Baxter added they were not consistent with an accident caused by a short fall. Sky Reece says Lanceton was playing in his room when he fell and became unconscious. Doctor Baxter said there was bleeding inside and outside of Lanceton's skull which was also severely fractured.

He said he believes the boy could have been swung by his feet and struck with force against a hard surface. He compared the toddler's injuries to those he sees on child victims of high speed car wrecks. During this testimony, Reece showed very little emotion and kept her head down most of the time.

Trial resumes tomorrow morning at 9 and is expected to be handed over to the jury by the end of the day.
