JOPLIN, MO.--- While it's not the first one he's ever owned, Jerry Stapp has a new gun to add to his collection.

Friday, he returned to Brandon's Gun Trading Company to make more purchases.
"I've done business here for years, and trust them, and we were needing scope mounts, so we came here," says Stapp.
Store owner Brandon Spaugy is seeing a lot more customers these days.
"I've done this for 30 years, and I've never seen it like this. I've seen it busy before, but not insane busy," states Brandon Spaugy, Brandon's Gun Trading Company Owner.
Spaugy says an uncertain future is a big motivator for many of the sales.
"People are afraid of possible gun legislation banning things forever at this point," says Spaugy.
"With the way the current administration and the Democratic party has looked towards firearms, I look for them to start implementing some kind of gun bans, and I think people are nervous about that," states Stapp.
While sales of almost every type of firearm are up, Spaugy says some guns in particular have been hot items.
"Since the media has been talking a lot about Glocks, and the high capacity of certain pistols, certain pistols are flying off the shelves faster," states Spaugy.
It's not just walk-in customers that are flooding stores.
"The online orders are kind of going though the roof, too. But it's kind of hard to order a gun online, though. There's a lot more to it. It has to come from a dealer to a dealer, and go through books and such," says Spaugy.
It may be just the beginning.
"We've got a president that really believes that we shouldn't have these, and I really think we're going to have a compliant congress in this. I'm thinking this is probably going to be the beginning of the end here," states Spaugy.
For now, Stapp says he's going to continue to exercise the rights current laws allow him, and has some advice for other gun enthusiasts.
"People need to get out and vote, and look at their local legislators and their local governments," says Stapp.
President Obama has called for stricter gun control measures in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, although no bills have been proposed just yet.
