CARTHAGE, MO.-- A new Hall of Heroes is lining the walls at the Fair Acres Family YMCA. It recognizes some of the most influential people that have lived in Carthage.
Some of the names include business men Joseph Leggett, Cornelius Platt, and broadcaster Marlin Perkins. The plaques were made by images in tile from Joplin. 3 of the living recipients say it's an honor to be in such good company.

"It was quite a surprise then I learned I was selected. I felt very humbled and at the same time," states Bill Samuels, Carthage Hall of Heroes.
There are plans to continue the tradition and add more names to the wall over the years.
