JOPLIN, MO.--- Department heads from each Joplin city department served food to more than 400 city employees and their families. It's an annual event that's designed to thank city workers for helping Joplin thrive. Santa Claus also came to the event to visit with kids and take pictures. HR coordinator Patrick Hurn says this luncheon was open to both present and past city employees.

"Everybody has busy schedules, and sometimes it's hard to find time to just sit down and relax and visit, and this is their opportunity to do that. For the retirees, it's a chance for them to catch up, to come back and see familiar faces," states Patrick Hurn, City of Joplin HR Coordinator.

Guests were also asked to bring food for the city's canned food drive. All items collected will be donated to Watered Gardens Gospel Rescue Mission.
