JOPLIN, MO.--- Vehicles from as far away as Texas, Arizona, and even New Jersey are making their way down I-44.

"I used to fly, but now it's so problematic with the airports and everything, I just decided I like to see the countryside," states Ron Knauel, Traveling to Illinois.

Whether you're planning to go see family or head back home, holiday traffic is something that will probably cross your mind.

"Earlier in the weekend, the roads had quite a bit more traffic. Today, the roads have just been excellent. It's been a pleasure to drive home, really," states Roy Hagan, Traveling to Oklahoma.

Holiday travelers say other drivers on the road can make the difference between a peaceful trip and a hectic one.

"Most people obey the law and some go zippa-dee-doo-daa by, but it's okay," states Knauel.

Chad Devine and his girlfriend are driving from Houston, Texas to their new home in Sedalia, Missouri. A risky move the week of Christmas.

"We weren't really anticipating the holiday traffic with the move. We didn't really take that into our consideration, moving on Christmas Eve, but we did this so we could be with our family. My family is in the Sedalia area," states Chad Devine, Moving to Sedlia.

Devine says whether you're trip is permanent or just for a day, braving the roads is worth it to be with those that matter most.

"You've got to spend time with family, that is the most important thing in life and if you've got to brave a little bit of traffic to get there, you make it happen," states Devine.

Workers at the visitor's center on I-44 say they have seen almost a thousand people stop at their facility over the last 3 days, which is a normal amount this time of year.
