CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- The Carl Junction School District received a bronze award from the "Healthier School Lunch Challenge Board." It's a national certification which promotes healthy eating choices and lifestyles for students in grades K-12. The award comes with a $500 check, a signed plaque, and a banner to display in their school.
"It feels great to get the recognition for the hard work that the teachers and the district has put in for the physical education and nutrition education," says Shannon Smith, Food Services Director.
There are three categories for the award, bronze, silver, and gold. School officials say after taking home the bronze, they will work towards earning the silver next school year.
