COLUMBUS, KS.--- The Kansas Pipeline Association hosted a meeting in Columbus today to help first responders know what to do should a natural gas disaster happen.

This year, the association is planning 55 meetings throughout the state to help in planning. Meeting organizers say it's important to get everyone on the same page now, and to know what each agency can do in times of disaster.

"It's better to have these meetings, and get to know these people, get to know each other and our capabilities on both sides, so that's when you're in an emergency situation everybody knows what everybody can expect out of each other," states Bill Haislip, Kansas Gas Service.

Along with learning how to deal with a potential disaster, trainers also presented ideas to help prevent gas line ruptures from happening.
