JOPLIN, MO.--- Mercy Hospital invited people who live near the new facility to attend an open house so residents know how future construction could affect them. McCarthy Construction Management workers showed residents blue prints of the hospital's layout.

They explained roadwork changes people should expect on Main, 50th street, and Indiana. The roads will be elevated or lowered to remove current blind spots

"Besides the safety changes, we're actually going to widen the lanes, add curbs, side walks. As you drive though the area and the neighborhood now, you see people walking up and down the streets because there is no way to safely walk along the roads," says John Farnen, Strategic Projects Director.

Farnen says construction is on schedule. The hospital is set to open in 2015.
