Memberships Increase at Joplin Family Y

JOPLIN - They also say traffic has gone up significantly, because those who already had memberships are using them more. While they new years resolutions most of the credit, some managers say the increase started a little earlier.

"In November and December usually we are a little bit slow and memberships will taper off," says Krystelle Lamczyc, YMCA Assistant Director of Membership. "But we've just been busy since those times and so it's been really awesome to see that people aren't really waiting until the new year, they're not putting it off but they're starting today," Lamczyc explains.

To handle the increase in membership, the YMCA has added new stair-master machines. They also plan to bring in more machines and add new classes in the near future.
