MISSOURI.--- Missouri Representative Bill White sponsored House Joint Resolution 6 which would cap non-economic damages in medical malpractice cases. Representative Tom Flanigan offered House Bill 55 which would create a state tax amnesty program.

House Bill 65 from State Representative Bill Lant would lower the age required to serve as an alderman in some small cities from 21 to 18. Republicans have a two thirds majority in both houses this year, which could mean overrides if the governor uses his veto power.

"We still have a veto proof. It doesn't mean we're going to be able to override anything the governor vetoes because every member has got some issues that they have a stance on," states Representative Charlie Davis, Missouri District 162.

Republicans have a 109 to 53 vote majority in the House. In the Senate, it's 25 to 9.
