Downtown Renewal

GALENA -- Mayor Dale Oglesby says the city has applied for a Community Development Block Grant to aid in paying for the $800,000 renovations planned for downtown this spring and summer. The plan is to continue renovations to downtown from fourth street north to Front street, and along Route 66 to just west of the Municipal Complex. Oglesby says he expects to be notified in the next few days about the status of the grants. Construction should be completed by July of this year.
