JOPLIN - The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization met to approve plans for a new bridge in the city. It will stretch across Turkey Creek, connecting Missouri Southern and Northpark Mall.

They also approved plans for two separate sidewalk improvement projects on Pennel and Roney streets in Carl Junction.

"We've seen a lot of people who do want other options especially as gas prices increase and also people are also becoming more health concious so some people do want to have that option of walking to different destinations," says Matt Wright, Joplin Planning Specialist

The combined price tag of the projects is between 200 and 350 thousand dollars. About 20 percent is locally funded with the other 80 percent federal.
