The Legion Of Honor was created by Napoleon in 1802 to acknowledge services rendered to France by persons of exceptional merit. He says he accepted the award on behalf of the thousands of soldiers who never made it back home.
"I'm quite honored to receive it. I think the one's that are still over there in the grave yards is the one's that deserve it more than I do," states James G. Cook, Legion of Honor Recipient.
Cook was also awarded the bronze star during his time in the service.
