MIAMI, OK.--- Alvin Krumrey, 92, served in Guadalcanal near Japan in World War ll. He lost his dog tags during his deployment in 1944. An islander found the tags and sold them to a jewelry shop, who was then able to trace them back to Krumrey.

The tags are in pretty good shape despite being lost in the jungle for 69 years. He says he doesn't remember when he lost them, but believes it could have been while he was bathing in a river in Guadalcanal.

"I can't swim, and the river started rising and I came out about half a quarter down below and I don't know whether I lost them then or when," states Alvin Krumrey, World War ll Veteran.

Krumrey says it was a wonderful surprise to get them back. He is putting the tags in a drawer under lock and key to make sure he doesn't lose them again.
