Neighborhood representatives have met with city leaders and presented a formal statement about their concerns. Project directors say they have discussed installing guard rails, a wall, or even tall trees. First, they need to decide on a plan and get permission.
"Our 1st step is to get some stuff together and then to talk with MODOT, since right now, all of that work that would be done would be on their right of way," states Jack Schaller, Joplin Assistant Public Works Director.
City planners say they expect to have a tentative solution and a decision about funding from MODOT in about 30 days.
