The original settlement was $4.75 million and 200 acres of land south of Galena owned by Penn National. However, Penn National had entered into an agreement to sell the land to the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, who own and operate Downstream Casino.
Hilderbrand says the money will go into the county general fund for now, but could be used to pay down county debt. He says that would allow for a possible mill levy decrease for property owners on next year's tax rolls.
