MISSOURI.--- A local lawmaker wants to ask voters to throw their support behind Missouri agriculture. State Representative Bill Reiboldt has sponsored Missouri House Joint Resolution 11 as a right to farm measure.

He says some national groups have targeted Missouri for changes that could enforce expensive restrictions on raising livestock. HJR-11 would ensure new livestock regulations could only come from the general assembly.

"We have outside sources: P.E.T.A. and H.S.U.S. Yes, they started with the puppy mills, but we're dealing with them with cage layers, gestation rates in the hog industry," said Representative Bill Reiboldt, MO. District 160.

If approved by lawmakers and the governor, HJR-11 would go before voters statewide before it could become official.
