MISSOURI---- Missouri state senators voted to approve legislation that would create tax credits for sports authorities and related groups. The measure would be tied to ticket sales to amateur sporting events, or expenses accrued while working to attract the event to town. The tax credits could benefit those working on everything from the Final Four to a baseball tournament at Joe Becker Stadium.
"It's for large scale events but also for small scale. In case Joplin or Carthage or Neosho wants to go after some event and bring in some sales tax revenue and people to visit. We think it's important to the region," said Senator Ron Richard, Mo. District 32.
While the tax credit bill has passed in the Senate, it's not yet scheduled for a hearing in the House.
