WEBB CITY, MO.--- The Missouri Department of Transportation will hand over more than $10,000 to the Webb City Police Department. The grant will be used for mobile drunk driving enforcement as well as extra patrols in accident prone areas. City leaders say they hope to cut down on what's been an increasing number of wrecks.

"We kind of attribute it to a couple of things. We've had a increase in population since the tornado. We've had an increase in the number of households being built, which increases your population. We've also had kind of a change in the traffic pattern," said Carl Francis, Webb City Interim City Administrator.

Workers say Highway 171 and Madison has seen the biggest increase in traffic count.
