Empire District Electric Rate Increase Approved

JOPLIN, MO.--- Today, the Missouri Public Service Commission unanimously agreed to increase electric rates starting April 1st. The rate hike affects nearly 150,000 customers and will allow Empire to receive about 27 and a half million dollars more revenue every year.
For residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month, this will mean paying about $7.74 more on their monthly bill. Under the agreement, Empire will not be allowed to increase general rates before October 1st, 2014.
