JOPLIN, MO.--- Representatives from "Tunnels 2 Towers" have spent the day working with "Rebuild Joplin" to learn disaster relief practices used after the 2011 tornado. The New York based relief organization is currently working to help rebuild homes for Hurricane Sandy victims and disabled veterans in Staten Island.

T2T representatives spent most of the morning learning about the construction systems, volunteer coordination strategies, and client services methods, that has made Rebuild Joplin so successful in the wake of the tornado.

"By learning what their mistakes were, we hope not to make the same mistakes up in Staten Island, and make our process even better and bring more people home sooner rather than later," said Jack Oehm, Tunnels 2 Towers, Assistant Director.

This afternoon, T2T leaders toured the tornado zone and several Rebuild Joplin housing construction projects.
