Currently, a 2nd offense in Oklahoma is considered a felony, which could result in 2 to 10 years in prison. This measure would make all offenses a misdemeanor crime.
Representative Cory Williams, who introduced the bill, says it doesn't make sense to penalize someone with a felony when marijuana is legal in other states. The measure passed unanimously in the House Public Safety Committee and is headed to the House floor.
