MIAMI, OK.--- Miami Elite Cheer Team members won silver last year and they hope to place gold in this year's National Cheer Association Championship Competition.

The senior squad is heading to Dallas, Texas this weekend. The youth squad, with kids as young as 6, are headed to Orlando, Florida on Tuesday.

For the past month, they've been polishing their skills to make sure they impress the judges. The cheerleaders say it's an honor to be chosen to compete against the best teams in the country.

"You're going up against a ton of other teams from big cities and we're from a small town, so we're trying to make our town happy and put Miami on the map with cheerleading," said Talon Forbis, Miami Elite Cheerleader.

The trip isn't cheap, costing the squads around $100,000. Miami Elite raised the money through many fundraisers and business sponsorships.
