COLUMBUS, KS.--- Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves says roughly half a dozen arrests were made in the past few weeks, after a string of burglaries that began around the first of the year. Groves says the suspects primarily took jewelry and electronics, from rural homes in the county.

Interagency Cooperation is being credited for a portion of the success in bringing the cases to a close, but it was help from the public that gave them what they needed to capture the suspected criminals.

"That's one of the things that I was glad to see come out of this, is that heightened sense of, not necessarily a neighborhood watch, but folks watching out for their neighbors," said David Groves, Sheriff, Cherokee County.

Groves credits agencies in Crawford, Jasper and Ottawa counties, along with those in Cherokee County, for help in closing the investigations.
