JOPLIN, MO.---- If you like green eggs and ham, and cats that wear hats, then you should visit the Northpark Mall in Joplin this weekend. A "Read Across America" event will be held in the food court on Saturday.

Community leaders will take turns reading to kids some of Dr. Suess's classic books. Saturday would of been his 108th birthday. The event kicked off today and organizers are getting into the celebration by rocking the hats.

"To wear this hat, you gotta get into the part. Have a lot of confidence, strut it, work it, enjoy it," said Kim Kory, Mercy Community Wellness.

Our own Chris Hagan even took time to read to the kids. The event will continue on Saturday. It will begin at 11 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. at the Northpark Mall.
