LAMAR, MO.--- Lamar city leaders are closer to having 3 condemned houses torn down. The city has been working for 2 years to remove the vacant houses at 204 Gulf, 1501 Broadway, and 103 west 15th.

Bids are now being accepted for demolition contractors to get rid of the structures. The city administrator says getting rid of the houses will improve the overall look of the city.

"They were just falling apart. The neighbors complaining about them, about vermin's in them," said Lynn Calton, Lamar City Administrator.

The city administrator says the bids will be opened before their next city council meeting on March 18th. The Lamar City Council will then make a decision about moving forward with one of the contractors.
