LAMAR, KS.--- Barton County commissioners remain at a standstill over replacing 911 center equipment. Today, commissioners opened bids from 2 companies to fix the equipment, but they chose neither one of the companies.
Commissioner Dennis Wilson says they still don't know what's wrong with their current system and the bids were higher than they expected. He says if they buy or replace parts, they want to make sure the equipment is secure.
"We can't replace anything down there until we know what's happened, and how it happened, and make sure it doesn't happen again. None of that has been taken care of yet," said Dennis Wilson, Barton County Commissioner.
As previously reported, one of the stations is currently down. AT&T officials believe someone cut the lock, tampered with the equipment, and changed the password. The commission is still waiting to hear back from AT&T officials about what needs to be replaced or repaired.
