Mark Bishop, 43, of Moundville, pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder on Friday. The charges stem from an October 2011 incident, when Vernon County authorities received a call about an overdose. When they entered the Bishop home, they found the wife Mary, alive but unresponsive. She was airlifted to Freeman Hospital, where she later died. Authorities say her injuries were consistant with those of a domestic violence victim.
He was sentenced to 17 years as a part of his plea deal.
