JOPLIN, MO.--- Organizers of a national photography competition announce the winning entries. Spiva Center for the Arts announced 1st place to Gloria Baker Feinstein from Kansas City for "Beauty Salon," "Maybelline Model," and "Three Grandmothers."

Richard Aardsma from Grandville, Michigan received 2nd place, and 3rd place went to Samantha Ann Vandeman. Organizers say the best part of the event was the one on one's artists were able to do with the juror.

"All of them came out with with something meaningful to say about that experience. Getting able to sit down with somebody and having them look at your work, somebody who sees thousands of photographs every year and who has strong opinions about what works and what might not work," said JO Mueller, Spiva Executive Director.

1,041 images were submitted in Photospiva this year. The exhibit will be open through May 5th.
