Pretrial Motions Heard in Copher Case

A Southwest Missouri man accused of murdering a Joplin man appears in court. Pretrial motions were heard today in the case of James L. Copher. Copher faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection with he death of 31-year-old Richard Smith. Copher asked a judge today not to allow the press to photograph him in restraints, a request judge David Dally denied. A trial date has not yet been set.
