A local organization that helps those with disabilities is receiving a helping hand themselves. The Independent Living Center was presented with a $3,000 grant today. The center`s purpose is to help build ramps, install handrails, and widen doorways for low-income people with disabilities. The grant money will be used to purchase tools to help the center complete those projects. The grant was presented to the center by International Paper, a local operation which makes utility poles. The company is widely involved in assisting organizations in the community.
