Updated: January 7, 2009
Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall announces the state has settled with Bridgestone/Firestone Incorporated. The settlement involves 52 other jurisdictions and involves over $51 million nationwide. The deal is in response to allegations that the company sold defective tires. In the state of Kansas, over 41,000 tires have been replaced. Bridgestone/Firestone has already spent $3.9 million in refunds to customers in Kansas. Through the latest settlement, an additional $500,000 will come to the state. The money will be used to cover further reimbursements and pay for investigative fees. Bridgestone/Firestone has denied wrongdoing under the settlement terms.
