R-8 New Code of Conduct

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Your child will soon have a new set of rules to follow in the classroom. The Joplin R-8 School Board approves a new code of conduct for students in interscholastic activities. The guidelines spell out punishment for alcohol use or possession, drug use, tobacco use and violations of the law. If a student is caught using or possessing alcohol or drugs, a first time offender would be ineligible to participate in 30% of the athletic season. A second offense calls for a full calendar year suspension and a third offense bars the student from taking part in activities the rest of their school years. The guidelines were established as weeks of debate.
