Local teens take a stand during the Great American Smoke Out. People across the country put down their cigarettes today and so did teenagers in the four states. As part of the nationwide campaign Joplin High School students petitioned their classmates to kick the habit. The program helps people quit at least for one day in hopes of helping them stop smoking, for good. In order to help ease those smoking urges for the day students passed out candy and fruit to those participating. The high school students felt it was important to become involved because of the high number of teen smokers across the country.
