Burton Kicks Off Campaign

A former Joplin city councilman and state representative is seeking a new political post. Current State Representative Gary Burton kicked off his campaign today. In a press conference at Missouri Southern, Burton announced his plans to run for Missouri State Senate, but the seat he is seeking is different. He says he would like to continue working with the House of Representatives, but as a member of the senate. Burton served as a Joplin City Councilman from 1986 to 1988 and has been a Missouri State Representative since then, but he couldn`t run for that post again because of term limits.
